The Tech Magnesium 

Co-Production Facility uses the same  proprietary atmospherically tight electric furnace and isothermal condenser design for both the ULTRA CLEAN Aluminothermic & the CLEAN Silicothermic Process Routes.  Changing the raw materials mix enables four distinct Product Lines to be produced on the same Production Line thereby maximizing flexibility and profitability


Calcium aluminate, high purity & commercial purity alumina and crystalline spinel  can be co-produced with high purity Mg using the ULTRA Clean Aluminothermic Process Route


Calcium silica aluminate white slag can be co-produced with high purity Mg using the CLEAN Silicothermic Process Route

  Co-production of molten Mg and calcium aluminate is governed by the following chemical reaction

Calcium aluminate based cement applications encompass castable refractory cement, floor screed, and rapid-hardening construction cements and mortars. The advantages of CA include rapid strength development,  and reduced CO2 emissions

  Co-production of molten Mg plus high purity alumina is governed by the following chemical reaction

  Using high purity MgO and Al metal enables production of higher purity crystalline Al2O3 (99.9% to 99.99%).  High purity alumina applications include refractory, LED lighting, lithium-ion batteries, semiconductors and sapphire scratch resistant glass. Current pricing for HP alumina ranges between US $1,000 to over $30,000 per ton depending on purity

Spinel applications include refractories for steel-making applications that provide a combination of resistance to slag corrosion and thermal shock together with excellent hot strength

  Co-production of molten Mg plus  2CaO.SiO2..Al2O3 white slag is governed by the following chemical reaction


 2CaO.MgO(s) + Si(l) = 2Mg(g) +  2CaO.SiO2(s)    

  

Adding Al2O3 results in a fluid white slag capable of reducing Portland in the cement mix by 30-85%. White slag cement demonstrates extended curing time, a slower heat release during hydration, enhanced compressive strength, and lower CO2 emissions during cement production. Additionally, white slag cement mitigates cold joint issues and is particularly well suited for high-strength and large-scale concrete structures
